Cook on low flame till the coconut starts emitting nutty aroma. Cook on low flame till the Khowa mixes with the coconut completely and also starts releasing moisture. Keep the flame low and cook until the mixture thickens. Now add Gur/ Jaggery and cook till the mixture is sticky.

Steps to make Coconut dal pithe in bengali style:
  1. Take the grated coconut in a pan and 200g sugar
  2. Heat the mixture till it becomes sticky. This will be a stuffing
  3. Take maida oil and water,make a doogh out of it
  4. Make small balls from the dough and flatten them
  5. Keep two teaspoon coconut mixture on the flattened dough
  6. Fold the flattend dough in the shape of a semi circle and press it by it's end. These give our pithe.
  7. Take a kadhai and heat some oil in it
  8. Temper jeera, dried chillie, bay leaves
  9. Pour washed cholar dal and water in it.
  10. Let it simmer until it is half boiled
  11. Add the pithes in it
  12. Now add the rest of the sugar, salt to taste.
  13. Simmer it until the dal is boiled fully.
  14. This is not needed to be thickened much.
  15. Pour it out in a dish
  16. Now spread aome ghee and garam masala in it
  17. Serve it when it cools down

Make small balls out of the stuffing once you feel the stuffing can. Coconut filling is stuffed in the dough made from dal, sweet potato and rice flour, and is deep fried to make Bhaja Pithe Recipe.
