  1. Take 1 cup Poha
  2. Prepare Milk
  3. Take 3 tbsp Coconut milk
  4. Take Sugar
  5. Take 2 tsp Cardamom powder
  6. Prepare Dry fruits
  7. Prepare Ghee

The one I have for you today is Poha Kheer and is known as Aval Payasam in South India. Poha Kheer is also one such delicious variety. It is a unique combination of our traditional rice kheer. This dish can be an excellent consideration to make for festivals or on an auspicious occasion to celebrate.

Instructions to make Poha kheer!:
  1. Wash the poha 2 times and sprinkle some water on it. Let it be soaked. (Do not add more water as it becomes paste at the end)
  2. In a pan roast all the dry fuits in ghee and keep it aside. Add the boiled milk to the pan and bring to boil.
  3. Add cardamom powder and sugar according to your taste and mix it well. Once the sugar dissolves add soaked poha, coconut milk and cook it for 5 mins.
  4. Poha kheer is ready to serve! (Quantity of milk is your choice of consistency)

Poha's other name is flattened rice and is readily available in India. You can use any variety of this flattened rice to make this. Flattened Rice: I prefer thick poha for this kheer. You can use either white or red poha, but thick ones work well for this recipe. Thin ones become bit mushy as it gets soaked in milk for a longer time.
