  4. Get 3 Cups Water
  5. Make ready 1 Pinch Salt
  6. Take 2 Cardamom
  7. Make ready 5 Cashewnuts
  8. Make ready 1 Teaspoon Ghee

Sabudana kheer cooked in milk and condensed milk gives a delicious flavor to the tapioca. Its great make ahead desserts for party. For festivals and some happy occasion we usually make some sweets to celebrate. Among all the sweets Payasam variety is common in our house.

Steps to make Javvarisi Paayasam/ Sabudana Kheer (Sago Dessert):
  1. Soak sago for 2 – 3 hours. Drain the water and bring 3 cups of water to boil in a heavy bottomed vessel. Add the soaked sago and cook for 4 - 5 minutes or until the sago is soft. Then add the milk, jaggery syrup, salt and mix well.
  2. Stir continuously and boil in medium flame for 4 minutes. Add powdered cardamon. Set aside and let it cool for 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. Fry cashews in ghee and add in payasam. You can also serve hot.

Javvarisi payasam is a sweet dish made with sago or tapioca pearls, sweetener, milk, cardamoms, cashews and raisins. Javvarisi is the tamil name to tapioca pearls & is often used to make payasam or kheer. This is a simple recipe that can be made in no time during festivals or occasions.
