The ingredients needed to make Custard apple basundi:
  1. Make ready 1 cup full fat m8lk
  2. Get 1/4 cup sugar
  3. Make ready 3/4 cup custard apple pulp
  4. Make ready 2 tbsp nuts chopped
  5. Get 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  6. Make ready Few rose petals for garnishing

Mix this pulp to above milk. Basundi will become thick once it is chilled. The Sitaphal/Shareefa ot the Custard Apple basundi is a very delicious variation of the classic milk basundi. Basundi,kheer or rabri are all names of an Indian sweet mostly in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Steps to make Custard apple basundi:
  1. First boil milk till it reduces to half.Occastionally scrap the side of pan and stir in between.
  2. Add sugar and boil 5 more minutes.
  3. Then cool this down.Add fresh custard apple pulp and cardamom powder. Mix well.Serve chilled.Garnish with nuts and rose petals.
  4. Note:Can add saffron threads but I suggest for pure flavour of custard apple so didn't add.

Basundi is a sweetened condensed milk made by boiling milk on low heat until the milk is reduced by half. Sitaphal/Custard Apple is my Most Favourite Fruit right from my childhood days. Mango has become a favourite much later. I can eat Sitaphhal in any form, Kulfi, Ice-Cream, Malai, Milkshake, Basundi, etc. During my schooldays, my brother used to take me to this very famous outlet called Bachelor's opposite Girgaum Chowpatty, in South Bombay.
