Lauki Barfi Recipe - Simple, easy to make and delicious barfi or burfi recipe made using bottle gourd, milk, sugar and khoya. For the flavoring, cardamom powder and rose water are added. The ingredients used here are same as lauki halwa.

The ingredients needed to make Lauki burfi:
  1. Prepare 500 gram bottle guard
  2. Prepare 1/2 cup ghee
  3. Get 1/2 cup sugar
  4. Take 100 gram khoya (mawa)
  5. Make ready handful Chopped nuts
  6. Get 1 pinch cardamom powder

Lauki is the Hindi name for "Bottle Gourd" and Barfi means "milk-based sweet". In this post, I am sharing the recipe for lauki ki barfi using mawa. Lauki Burfi is a popular delicacy in many Indian households which is made with grated Lauki and milk. The best part of this dish is that the sweetness is just enough to satisfy your cravings, leaving you completely satisfied.

Instructions to make Lauki burfi:
  1. Wash and peel the bottle guard & grate it. Squeeze excess water from the grated bottle guard and keep it aside.
  2. Heat some ghee in a pan and add the grated bottle guard to it. Cook it till it gets mushy.
  3. When excess water is absorbed add sugar to it and mix well. Add cardamom powder and chopped nuts to it.
  4. Now add some khoya (mawa) to it and mix well. Cook for 2 minutes and switch off the flame.
  5. Add some ghee if it appears sticky. Add this to a mould and set for 1-2 hours. Cut the burfi pieces as per your choice and garnish it with some more chopped nuts.
  6. It can be served as halwa as well.

The lauki burfi mixture will separate from the pan and form a ball like structure. Now switch off the flame; Grease the tray or plate with ghee and pour the lauki barfi mixture and spread it evenly. Garnish with chopped almonds and pistachios. Now with the back of a spoon or spatula gently press the nuts in the barfi, so they don't come out. Lauki ki Barfi is a delicious Indian sweet made using bottle gourd.
