Steps to make Homemade Custard:
  1. In a pot combine cream and vanilla. Place on the stove and heat until it starts bubbling. Remove from heat
  2. In a bowl, place egg yolks with sweetener and salt. Whisk until creamy.
  3. Add a little warm cream to the egg yolk and whisk well. Keep on adding the cream and whisking until it is properly combined.
  4. Decant back into the pot and place over medium heat while whisking continuously. Cook until the custard reaches the desired consistency. Remove from heat
  5. Serve with you chocolate cake and enjoy.

IMPORTANT: In order to have a smooth (not lumpy) custard, use a heavy-bottomed saucepan, and stir constantly! If you have to walk away from the stove, remove saucepan from heat.
