Coconut Tart is one of the most popular of current trending foods on earth. It is simple, it’s fast, it tastes delicious. It is enjoyed by millions every day. Coconut Tart is something which I have loved my entire life. They’re fine and they look wonderful.

The tarts are made up of a typical Chinese pastry, using very regular ingredients, which give the tarts that distinctive crisp texture and sweetness. My take on the delicious Hong Kong style coconut tarts. The pastry for these tarts is super flaky.

The ingredients needed to make Coconut Tart:
  1. Make ready 75 g Softened butter
  2. Get 25 g Sugar
  3. Make ready 130 g Flour
  4. Make ready 1 egg yolk, room temperature
  5. Make ready 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  6. Make ready Filling
  7. Get 100 g Desiccated coconut
  8. Make ready 1 teaspoon all purpose flour
  9. Prepare 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  10. Take 1/4 teaspoon salt
  11. Get 60 ml Milk
  12. Make ready 30 g Melted cooled butter
  13. Make ready 1 table spoon vanilla extract
  14. Make ready 1 large egg
  15. Get 65 g Sugar
  16. Get Pinch salt

After finding a tart pan in the kitchen cabinet, I came up with grand plans to assemble a strawberry. The filling of this tart ends up a like a gorgeous, sweet, coconut macaroon. Perfect with a dollop of whipped cream. Coconut tarts are a delicious sweet treat that can be enjoyed any time.

Steps to make Coconut Tart:
  1. Add sugar to butter and using a spatula mix thoroughly then add egg yolk and vanilla extract and mix.
  2. Pour the flour into the mixture and mix until everything comes together to form a dough, note do not over mix, turn onto a cling film
  3. Fold and store dough in the fridge for minimum of 30mins
  4. In a bowl combine flour, baking powder and mix and set aside
  5. In separate bowl add all other ingredients for filling
  6. In two batches add coconut mixture to wet mixture and combine
  7. Take a piece of dough and form a ball, press into tart or cupcake pan, shape and cut off excess, pour filling and level top. Bake in preheated oven on medium / high heat for 25-30mins depending on the size of the tart

They have a soft filling and are crisp on the outside; they are perfect as an entrée. Make the coconut tart shells and blind bake. Press pastry dough into the tart moulds. If your tart moulds are not non-stick, remember to grease the base and sides generously with butter. Unlike coconut bake, tart is on the sweeter side.
