There are many ways of making Chana dal kheer.

  1. Get 1 cup Chana dal
  2. Prepare 1 cup jaggery powder
  3. Get 1/4 cup dry coconut (kopra) powder
  4. Take 1/2 ltr Milk
  5. Make ready 1 tsp Cardamom powder
  6. Get 2 tsp Milk powder (optional)
  7. Take Chopped dry fruits and spoon full of ghee for frying
  8. Prepare 1 tsp full of rice flour

  1. Cook Chana dal along with a pinch of turmeric and few drops of oil in a pressure cooker till soft.
  2. Meanwhile boil milk in a kadai
  3. Smash 1/4 quantity of cooked dal and add entire quantity of dal into boiling milk
  4. Dissolve milk powder in cold milk or water and add to boiling milk
  5. Mix one spoon of rice flour in milk or water and add to boiling milk
  6. Add kopra and cardamom powder. Put off the flame.
  7. When the kheer is little cold add jaggery and fried chopped dry fruits (cashew, almond, raisins pista)

We make it using paasi paruppu and jaggery. Some people add little chana dal to that.
